My Hyena Sketch Comedy Troup - Join Us!
What is it?
It’s a sketch comedy troupe that performs live on the internet (audio only). We’ll perform short sketch comedy skits (2 to 5 minutes each) weekly live on Talkshoe. The number of sketches depends on how big the group gets. The whole point is to give performers, writers, or anyone looking for a good time the chance to participate in sketch comedy. It is a great way to relieve stress and it helps workout your creative muscles from the comfort of your own home. At My Hyena, we’ve been performing bad sketch comedy for almost a whole year! We’d like to give everyone an opportunity to do the same (or hopefully better). Checkout our Sketch Comedy page to listen to some examples.
Why join?
1) If you want to have some fun performing sketch comedy here’s your chance! Your friends and family can listen to you perform live from anywhere in the world.
2) If you want to have some fun writing sketch comedy and need some people to perform it, this is the place for you. You’ll get a chance to hear your words performed live. And, it’ll be recorded for you to share with friends and family.
Also…
- It’s a great stress reliever.
- It’s a great way to exercise your creativity.
- It’s a great way to meet and interact with others.
- It’s a great way to start out in sketch comedy without the fear of face to face ridicule.
- It’s also the best way to perform sketch comedy if you’re too ugly for a live stage.
How does it work?
The current plan is to perform once a week. The schedule is dependent on the availability of the troupe members. Every week scripts need to be submitted by a predetermined deadline for approval to be performed on that weeks show. My Hyena is a humor health website. We try our best not to use profanity or hateful humor. But, as you can tell by listening to our shows, we often straddle the line with our sexual references.
However, we would like our humor to be suitable for people 15 years old and up. Every week we will meet online a few minutes before show time to rehearse. You will need a computer microphone and a skype account (free at skype.com). There is no cost to join the troupe and no commitment, other than RSVP-ing for the following weeks show. Friends and family can listen live through our website, or by calling in through their phones, or by listening to a recorded show available on our website or through itunes.
How do I join?
Leave us a comment letting us know if you’re a writer, or a performer, or both. Tell us if you have any experience doing any of this type of thing before. Let us know what city and state you will be joining us from, and what nights are best for you.
**Lastly, if you can’t laugh at yourself or are incapable of having fun, do not bother joining the troupe.
