National Humor Month! – Humor Health News

That’s right! April is National Humor Month. Is that some sort of cruel joke, that the same month we worry about our taxes is the same month we are supposed to celebrate laughter? Checkout out how old people celebrate this special occassion with some clever zingers! No wonder, right, since they probably don’t have to worry much about taxes anymore.

April is National Humor Month and there is nothing I love better than a good laugh. My early comedic influences were Bennett Cerf and Ernie Kovacs mixed with Laurel and Hardy and Johnny Carson.

Laughter, Reader’s Digest tells us, is the best medicine. Just ask Marge Coalman, the vice president of wellness and programs at Touchmark at Coffee Creek, a retirement community in Edmond.

Some of the Touchmark residents keep her in stitches. “A bicycle can’t stand alone. It’s two tired,” said L.M. Sullivan.

He’s just getting warmed up. “A chicken crossing the road — poultry in motion,” he said. “When a clock is hungry it goes back for seconds.”

Another Touchmark resident, Richard Newville, also enjoys one-liners with some zing. Let’s give him the microphone:

“Are part-time band leaders semiconductors?”

“Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons?”

“Do you think that when they asked George Washington for ID that he whipped out a quarter?”

I’ve always wanted to do a standup routine. So here’s my contribution to National Humor Month.

“Hugh Hefner turned 83 the other day. When he was in school there was no history class.”

“An Edmond man who claims two thugs shoved a dictionary down his throat is suing them for putting words in his mouth.”

“What do Easter Bunny helpers get for making a basket? Two points, just like anyone else.”

Thank you. You’ve been a great audience. Drive safely and be sure to tip your waitress.
